The response to a woman’s sneeze

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 15503 )
Q: If my mother, sister, or wife sneezes, should I say: (May Allah have mercy on you), or is that limited to males only? I have heard people say: the response to a sneeze is for a man, not a woman . Is this correct or not?
A: It is prescribed to respond to the sneezer if he praises Allah the Exalted, whether male or female. So you say to your mother and the like: (May Allah have mercy on you) or (May Allah have mercy on you [plural]), just as it is said to a man: (May Allah have mercy on you) or (May Allah have mercy on you [plural]). It is established from Abu
Hurayrah
(may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
There are five qualities which a Muslim should display to his brother : return of salutation, response to the one who sneezes, acceptance of the invitation, paying sick visit to a patient, and accompanying the funeral.خمس تجب للمسلم على أخيه: رد السلام، وتشميت العاطس، وإجابة الدعوة، وعيادة المريض، واتباع الجنازة
Sunan Abi Dawud 5030Sahih (Al-Albani)
It is agreed upon, and Muslim narrated in his (Sahih) from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Six things are obligatory for a Muslim toward his Muslim brother: if you meet him, greet him; if he invites you, accept it; if he falls ill, visit him; if he sneezes and praises Allah, respond to him; if he seeks your advice, advise him; and if he dies, follow his funeralللمسلم على المسلم ست خصال: إذا لقيته فسلم عليه، وإذا دعاك فأجبه، وإذا مرض فعده، وإذا عطس وحمد الله فشمته، وإذا استنصحك فانصح له، وإذا مات فاتبعه
. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
