The vow when the intention is to refrain

The second question of Fatwa No. ( 15536 )
Q 2: I previously struck my wife, then went to her family. When I arrived at their place afterward, reconciliation occurred between me and my wife. Out of great joy, I said: I vow to Allah ten camels, and I do not remember whether I said it was serious or a good deed if I struck her after this. What I am asking about is: what is obligatory upon me, knowing that I struck her lightly after that? If I am obligated to fulfill it, is it obligatory to pay all ten together, or separately according to my ability and the people's need? And is it obligatory to pay compensation for them at their value, or not? Please issue a ruling for us, may Allah reward you.
A 2: If your intention with the vow was to refrain yourself from striking her, and you did not intend obedience or drawing near to Allah, then what is obligatory upon you is the expiation for an oath, according to the correct opinion; because it is like an oath. However, if your intention, along with the intention to refrain yourself from striking her by the vow, was drawing near to Allah the Exalted if you struck her in the future, then you must fulfill your vow, slaughter the ten camels, and give their meat in charity to the poor, at one time or multiple times according to your ability; because Allah the Exalted said:[At-Taghabun 64:16]
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
