The first question of Fatwa number ( 3426 )
Q1: A girl whose mother passed away made a vow to slaughter a sheep for Allah every month from her salary, as she works as a teacher. Now she has found it difficult to buy the sheep, slaughter it, and distribute it. Is it permissible for her to pay the value of the sheep in cash instead of the meat? Because she made a specific vow, which is to distribute the meat, so is it permissible to replace it with the value?
A1: There is no hardship in slaughtering the sheep; rather, she must continue to slaughter it and distribute its meat to the poor. Paying the value does not suffice for her, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sunan Ibn Majah 2126Sahih (Darussalam) .
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
