The second question of Fatwa No. ( 10711 )
Q 2: What is the amount of feeding a poor person in the expiation for an oath; and is it permissible to give the food of ten poor persons to one poor person only?
A 2: The amount of feeding a poor person in the expiation for an oath is half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of wheat, rice, or the like of the country's staple food, which is approximately one and a half kilograms. It is not permissible to give the food of the ten to one person; rather, the ten are required; because Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Ma'idah 5:89] And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
