Fatwa No. ( 20607 )
Q: One of the writers among us wrote that 'Uthman ibn 'Affan , the Possessor of the Two Lights, may Allah be pleased with him, when he was unjust in his ruling, he was killed and no one prayed over him ! And he was not buried until after three days, after (he had decomposed) and the smell of his body changed, may Allah be pleased with him. The question: Is this statement true? What is the ruling on one who spreads such a statement? And is it permissible for a Muslim to hate such people?
A : This statement is invalid and a lie; it is not permissible to spread it; because it contains cursing of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: and 'Uthman , may Allah be pleased with him, is among the best of the Companions, and he is the third caliph of the Rightly Guided Caliphs, and he is among the first to enter Islam, and he was killed a martyr while wronged, may Allah be pleased with him and grant him satisfaction. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
