The third question of Fatwa number ( 19049 )
Q3: If a Muslim makes a mistake several times in the same error, is it permissible for us to remind him of what he has done? For example: he stole several times, or he lied several times. Is it correct for us to remind him of the theft and the lying? And does the one who reminds people of what they have done commit a sin? And what do you advise such people?
A3: What is required of the Muslim is to advise his Muslim brother, guide him to the right path, warn him of deviant morals, and invite him with gentleness and softness; perhaps Allah will open his heart and expand his chest to accept the truth. It is not befitting for a Muslim to take pleasure in the misfortune of his brothers, nor to follow up on their stumbles and slips; for what was narrated by Makhul from Wathilah ibn al-Asqa' who said, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2506Da'if (Darussalam) Al-Tirmidhi said in (Al-Jami' al-Sahih) number (2506): This hadith is hasan gharib,
and it was mentioned by Al-Baghawi in (Sharh al-Sunnah) vol. 13 p. 141, and Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar graded it as hasan based on its corroborating narration narrated by Khalid ibn Ma'dan :Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2505Da'if (Darussalam) Al-'Ajiluni said in (Kashf al-Khafa') vol. 2 p. 365: It was narrated by Al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Mani' and Al-Tabarani and others from Mu'adh as marfu', and Al-Tirmidhi said: Hasan gharib, and its chain is not connected, and Ibn Mani' said: They mean a sin from which he has repented, and Al-Bayhaqi narrated from Yahya ibn Jabir who said: No man ever blamed another man for a defect except that Allah would test him with that defect. And what was reported in (Al-Sahihayn) from 'Aqil from Ibn Shihab : That Salim informed him: That Abdullah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) informed him: That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Sahih al-Bukhari 2442 And this is the wording of Al-Bukhari vol. 3 p. 98. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

لا تظهر الشماتة لأخيك فيرحمه الله ويبتليكand it was mentioned by Al-Baghawi in (Sharh al-Sunnah) vol. 13 p. 141, and Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar graded it as hasan based on its corroborating narration narrated by Khalid ibn Ma'dan :
Whoever shames his brother for a sin, he shall not die until he (himself) commits it.
من عير أخاه بذنب لم يمت حتى يفعلهA Muslim is a brother of another Muslim, so he should not oppress him, nor should he hand him over to an oppressor. Whoever fulfilled the needs of his brother, Allah will fulfill his needs; whoever brought his (Muslim) brother out of a discomfort, Allah will bring him out of the discomforts of the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him on the Day of Resurrection .
