Q: I read in (Al-Azhar Magazine), Volume 4, Year 69, Rabi' al-Akhir 1417 AH, on page (540), a poem titled "The Fortress of Longings" inspired by the Noble Prophet's Birthday, by Ibrahim 'Isa . I paused at some of its verses, which I doubt. Is it permissible to recite them or not? Because it contains calling for aid from other than Allah. These are the verses: My Master.. O best of Allah's creation.. and the radiant light, seize upon the truth, for a fool is about to erase it. O Prophet.. all good is in You, everything. O my beloved, bestow a favor that is a drink for the thirsty. The anxiety of longings in my chest is a supplication and a roar. So choose me.. and encompass me.. for I am a pure heart. My heart yearned for my beloved.. and was quenched by my tears. If I attain Your nearness, I will cry out: What nearness have I attained, O...
So I ask Your Excellency to clarify the correct and the erroneous in it, and may Allah reward you with good for what you do to help Muslims understand their correct religion.

A : This poetry mentioned in the question contains supplication and calling for aid to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) after his death in matters that only Allah is capable of, and this is shirk (associating partners with Allah) in worship that contradicts tawhid (the oneness of Allah), such as his saying: (seize upon the truth, for a fool is about to erase it), (O my beloved, bestow a favor), and (choose me and encompass me). Believing this is kufr (disbelief) that expels one from the religion, and I seek refuge in Allah from that. It is obligatory to repent sincerely from it and to direct worship, such as supplication and calling for aid and the like, to Allah alone, and to believe that the Provider, the Bestower of Grace, the Benefactor, and the Harmer is He alone (Glorified and Exalted is He). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
