Severing the spinal cord of a bull before slaughtering it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 2807 )
Q: What is the ruling on eating a bull if it is killed by severing the spinal cord and the brain spreading before it is slaughtered with a knife ? Is it permissible, or is it considered carrion?
A: This question is vague. If the bull or its like has had its neck and head crushed until its spinal cord is severed and its brain scattered, and it dies before being ritually slaughtered, then, given the circumstances described, it is in the ruling of carrion; because it was not slaughtered with the Islamic slaughter. However, if it is ritually slaughtered according to the Islamic method after performing the aforementioned action before it dies, then it becomes lawful; due to the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, after mentioning the strangled and the beaten and what follows them:
Prohibited to you are dead animals, blood, the flesh of swine, and that which has been dedicated to other than Allah, and [those animals] killed by strangling or by a violent blow or by a head-long fall or by the goring of horns, and those from which a wild animal has eaten, except what you [are able to] slaughter [before its death], and those which are sacrificed on stone altars, and [prohibited is] that you seek decision through divining arrows. That is grave disobedience. This day those who disbelieve have despaired of [defeating] your religion; so fear them not, but fear Me. This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islam as religion. But whoever is forced by severe hunger with no inclination to sin - then indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.إِلا مَا ذَكَّيْتُمْ
[Al-Ma'idah 5:3]
Knowing that it is not permissible for a Muslim to strike an animal before slaughter by striking the head, or the neck, or anything else with the intention of knocking the animal down and being able to slaughter it. It is possible to assist in its slaughter by means other than this reprehensible action, such as tying it with ropes or the like, so that the slaughterer can slaughter it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
