The Ruling of the Shari'ah on One Who Masturbates

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and third questions of Fatwa No. ( 4976 )
Q1: What is the ruling of the Shari'ah on one who masturbates , and what is the ruling of one who masturbates on a day of Ramadan , and what is the ruling of one who swore three times (i.e., said: By Allah, by Allah, by Allah) that he would not return to this act (i.e., masturbation) a second time, but he did return?
A1: It is not permissible to masturbate, and this is called: the secret habit. Whoever does this on a day of Ramadan is more sinful and commits a greater crime than one who does it outside of Ramadan. It is obligatory for him to repent and seek forgiveness, and he must fast one day for the day he broke his fast if he ejaculated. As for the one who swore not to do it but did, he has broken his oath, and he owes one expiation for the oath, even if
he repeats it; because it is an oath regarding one single thing. The expiation is: freeing a slave, or feeding ten poor people or clothing them. Whoever cannot do that must fast three days. The amount for feeding is five sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of wheat, rice, or similar staple food of the country, with each poor person receiving half a sa'. The amount for clothing is one garment for each poor person that covers him in prayer.

Q3: A woman said (regarding the expiation) i.e., she swore in this manner that her daughter's husband would not enter her house a second time. But the days passed and this person entered her house, and things returned to their normal course. What is the ruling of this act in the Shari'ah? Knowing that she said this word in a state of anger, and what is her ruling if she was not in a state of anger?
A3: If the oath was uttered by her while she was in a state of anger such that she did not know what she was saying, then she owes nothing. Otherwise, the expiation for the oath is obligatory upon her if she broke it, and she has broken it as stated in the question, so the expiation is obligatory upon her. The explanation of the expiation has already passed in the answer to the first question. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
