The ruling on one who breaks an oath and is unable to do anything other than fasting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listener (A. A. N.) from Riyadh sent a question, saying: If I swear several times not to do certain things...

The Shaykh: What?

The presenter: If I swear several times not to do certain things and then I do them, do I expiate for that by fasting three days, knowing that I am unable to do anything other than that?

Answer:
If a person swears to do certain things, even if he repeats it several times, and then does not do them, he owes the expiation for the oath. For example: "By Allah, I will fast on Thursday," "By Allah, I will fast on Thursday," "By Allah, I will fast on it," or "By Allah, I will speak to so-and-so," "By Allah, I will speak to so-and-so," "By Allah, I will speak to so-and-so," but he does not do it. He owes the expiation for the oath, which is: feeding ten poor people, giving each poor person half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of the local staple food, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. If he is unable to do so, he fasts three days. And if you are unable to do anything other than fasting, fasting suffices for you, and praise be to Allah. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
