The first question of fatwa number ( 6354 )
Q1: Ifa person entrusted me with a secret, and then another person said to me, "Tell me," and I said to him, "I don't know," and he said, "Swear by Allah," and he persisted until I was compelled to swear in order not to reveal the secret,is there anything required of me, and what is the ruling?
A1: It is not permissible for you to swear; because it is a false oath, and you would be sinful, so seek forgiveness from Allah and repent to Him. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
