Covering a man's tooth with gold for necessity

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 16205 )
Q: One of my front teeth had a cavity, and I went to the doctor, who removed the cavity by taking away about a quarter of the tooth. It did not hurt me, either during the cavity or after its removal. Then I went to a dental technician and had this tooth covered with gold for the following reasons: 1 - The tooth had a cavity, and the doctor removed about a quarter of it. 2 - The tooth revealed some deformity, being in the front teeth, as a result of removing the cavity from it. 3 - Is it permissible for me to leave it as it is now, covered with gold, without any sin in that?
A: There is no harm in a man covering an affected tooth with gold if
this is for necessity, not for adornment; because gold has a property, which is that it does not rust with prolonged duration. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) granted a dispensation to one of the Companions when his nose was cut off, allowing him to make a nose of gold. And some of the Salaf used to bind their teeth with gold, which indicates the permissibility for necessity. So what you did is a matter of necessity, and there is no harm in it, if Allah wills. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
