Fatwa No. ( 20950 )
Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. And after: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the Grand Mufti from the Honorable Director of the Center for Da'wah and Guidance in the province of Jeddah , in his letter No. (319 \ 9 \ 20 \ J) dated 14 \ 4 \ 1420 AH, and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars with No. (2382) and date 19 \ 4 \ 1420 AH. His Eminence asked a question, the text of which is as follows: A member of the Da'wah and Guidance in Jeddah province, the Shaykh \ Muhammad ibn 'Atiyyah al-Jabiri , sent us the attached letter, in which he states that he found some keychains that are circulated by some people, one of which is carved in the
shape of a heart, which is a symbol of love, and written on it is: (I, then a drawing of a heart, the Messenger)
meaning: I love the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and on the back it is written: (O my beloved, O Messenger of Allah). The other is circular, worn on the chest, and the same phrase is written on it. We also inform Your Eminity that it has spread among some women to wear women's shirts on which this phrase is also written on the left side above the breast. People have come to us seeking a ruling on this matter. We hope that after your kind review, you will take what you deem appropriate and inform us of your view so that we can answer the questioners about its ruling and disseminate this to those who benefit from it.

After studying the inquiry, the Committee responded that making the aforementioned shape and writing the aforementioned phrase on clothing, medals, and the like is not in accordance with the guidance of the Salaf of the Ummah, who are the best of generations and the most reverent and loving of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) than those who came after them. Furthermore, it involves imitating the people of open sinfulness who adopt such symbols as an indication of their forbidden love and passion for others, and they devote themselves to it without regard for the ruling of the pure Shari'ah in this matter. Also, the aforementioned shape is understood to imply that the love of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is like the love of other created beings, and this is a great error; because the love of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is obligatory by the Shari'ah, and faith is not complete without it, whereas the love of others may be prescribed or it may be forbidden. Based on the foregoing, writing the aforementioned
phrase, selling it, buying it, and using it is not permissible. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
