Teaching Pre-Islamic Poetry

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 20153 )
Q: I am a teacher of Arabic literature. Do I receive reward for the knowledge I impart? The prescribed lessons are on pre-Islamic poetry in all its forms, including love poetry and satire, but sometimes I am troubled by the doubt that what I am teaching is of no benefit or use, and I feel that I am committing a sin. What is your opinion on this?
A: Teaching Arabic literature is among the permissible acts, and taking a wage for it is permissible, provided that the curriculum does not include forbidden matters, such as teaching lies
and obscenity, or going against the laws of Islam. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
