A vow made regarding a sick camel, in which he said, “If Allah heals this camel, I will sell it”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 12167 )
Q: My father made a vow regarding a camel of his that was sick, saying: “If Allah heals this camel, I will sell it.” The camel recovered and became fat, and it had a large hump, but he did not sell it. Then, after that, the camel died. What is the ruling regarding such vows? May Allah reward you with good.
A: Your father’s vow to sell the camel if it recovered is obligatory, and he owes an expiation for an oath; because he did not fulfill his vow. The expiation is feeding ten poor people, or clothing them, or freeing a believing slave. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
