Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of fatwa number ( 6251 )
Q 2: If a man makes a vow to Allah and says: "Its reward is for so-and-so" . That is: a righteous wali (close friend of Allah). What is the ruling?
A 2: If the intention of the one who made the vow is to assign the reward of his vow to the righteous wali (close friend of Allah) to seek blessing from him, then it is not permissible; rather, it is shirk (associating partners with Allah), so it is not permissible to fulfill it. And if his intention is to benefit the wali (close friend of Allah) by assigning the reward to him so that Allah may have mercy on him for that, then the vow is valid, and it is obligatory to fulfill it; because it is from the category of charity for the deceased. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
