Q3: A man contracted marriage with a woman and died without consummating the marriage. Please inform us whether his wife must observe the waiting period and so on, or not?
A3: It is obligatory for the woman whose husband has died to observe the waiting period, whether he had consummated the marriage or not. It is four months and ten days, including their nights; due to the generality of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-Baqarah 2:234]
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
