Those who strike themselves with daggers among the sects of the Sufis

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 18466 )
Q: I have seen some shaykhs who claim to be shaykhs, and they strike themselves with daggers and other things they have with them, and they say it is in the skin of al-Rafai. What is the ruling on this, and is this action forbidden or not? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
A: These are a sect among the misguided sects of the Sufis, and what you mentioned regarding their condition is part of their religious innovations. The danger posed by these people and their like to Islam is great. So you must be cautious of them, warn about them, and advise them if you are able, that this action is a misguided practice adopted from those called the aqtub (poles) among the innovating Sufis, and that proceeding down this path indicates a great danger. And the correct path and way is the creed of the people of the Sunnah and the community, which is the saved sect and the guiding path to the straightest way. Allah the Exalted said:
And, [moreover], this is My path, which is straight, so follow it; and do not follow [other] ways, for you will be separated from His wayوَأَنَّ هَذَا صِرَاطِي مُسْتَقِيمًا فَاتَّبِعُوهُ وَلاَ تَتَّبِعُوا السُّبُلَ فَتَفَرَّقَ بِكُمْ عَنْ سَبِيلِهِ
[Al-An'am 6:153]
.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
