Breaking Repentance

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 2307 )
Q 2: I am a single man. I used to commit unlawful sexual intercourse and amuse myself by playing cards. One day, I reflected and then intended to repent. I prayed two units of prayer in one of the mosques and then humbly beseeched Allah the Exalted to accept my repentance. However, after a period of time, as the days passed and my friends and companions continued to play cards in front of me, Satan—may I seek refuge in Allah from him—was able to lead me back to playing cards, so I broke my repentance and played cards. As for unlawful sexual intercourse, I have not returned to it until now, and I will not return to it ever, if Allah wills. By the generosity and grace of Allah, I have resolved in these days to renew my repentance regarding the playing of cards, for which I had previously broken my repentance. I have indeed renewed my repentance. What is the expiation for breaking repentance? And is it possible for me to renew it after I have broken it? Please issue a ruling for us, may Allah reward you with the best reward. I am aware that I now feel bitterness and discomfort due to my breaking of the aforementioned repentance.
A 2: Repentance from the disobedience of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, has three conditions: acknowledging the sin, feeling remorse for the act, and resolving not to return to it. If the sin involves the rights of creation, a fourth condition is obligatory, which is seeking the forgiveness of the creation regarding their right if it is difficult to return their right to them. If it is not difficult to return it, then it must be returned to them unless they pardon it. The repentance that came from you is repentance from the disobedience of Allah, Mighty and Majestic.
If the aforementioned conditions are met, then the repentance is valid. You must also repent from your return to playing cards, and you should seek forgiveness from Allah for the breaking that occurred on your part. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, is Forgiving and Merciful. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
