Among the conditions of repentance from the rights of people is fulfilling them to them

Fatwa number ( 13939 )
Q: A person may be in a period of his life where he is in frivolity, licentiousness, and lack of fear of Allah, playing, wasting, and disobeying, until Allah turns to him in repentance, and he becomes one of the people whom Allah has favored and shown the path of truth. During this period, he commits sins, some against his Lord and some against people. As for what is between him and his Lord, his Lord will forgive him by His permission as long as he repents, returns, turns back, and does good. But regarding the rights of people, some of it is wealth, some are people he backbit, and some are people he deceived in their trade. So the thinking about the debts and their owners has become a burden on my back that spoils my life, and I do not find a way to the owners or to the exact amount. Is there a way out? Please inform us, may Allah reward you.
A: Among the conditions of repentance from the rights of people is fulfilling them to them. If the right is wealth, he returns it. If it is not wealth, he returns it. If it is not wealth, he seeks their pardon if he hopes for their forgiveness. If he fears harm in that, he does good to them as much as possible and prays for them.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
