The Meaning of the Remembrance of Allah
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 4335 )
Q 4: What is the meaning of the remembrance of Allah ? Is it holding gatherings for dhikr with drums and clapping, or is it the remembrance of Allah in secret and aloud, and reading the Qur'an in secret?
A 4: The remembrance of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is general and includes: doing what is commanded and avoiding what is forbidden. It also includes: tasbih, tahlil, and tahmid, whether aloud or in secret, and reading the Qur'an and the like of what Allah has prescribed in terms of words and actions. It does not include drums, clapping, or collective dhikr; rather, that is a religious innovation (bid'ah) that is not permissible. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
