Intention in Supplication
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 5963 )
Q 2: If the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) promised a reward for a specific supplication, for example, or for seeking forgiveness,
must the one making the supplication intend to obtain the promised reward so that he receives it, or should he combine the intention of the promise with his purpose in making the supplication?
A 2: He should supplicate with what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in terms of supplication, intending in his heart to follow his guidance, hoping for the reward and recompense from Allah, and the fulfillment of what the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) promised regarding this supplication. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
