Supplication upon the arrival of a newborn

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 13816 )
Q: My cousin’s son was blessed with a daughter, may Allah make her among the righteous. I contacted her mother (the newborn’s grandmother) to congratulate her on the mother’s safe delivery and to congratulate her on the birth of the girl. Among the things I said to her was: “May Allah make her more blessed than her father,” just as is said when congratulating on a son. However, the newborn’s grandmother spread rumors between me and her husband (my cousin) and her son, and interpreted this phrase as an insult to her son. By Allah the Great, I did not intend to insult her son, but she interpreted it for her husband and son as: why would he make the girl
more blessed than her son, forgetting that the girl and the boy are a gift from Allah, and that righteousness and blessing are from Allah, and that whenever there is blessing in the girl and the boy, they are a blessing from Allah. Your Eminence, I ask you to kindly clarify to me whether this phrase contradicts the Shari'ah of Islam and custom, and since custom varies from country to country, I request a written answer; because I want to ask for forgiveness from my cousin and his son, if there is anything in it that contradicts the Shari'ah and custom, and to clarify to him that I am not in the wrong, and that his wife, may Allah forgive her, wants nothing but to spread rumors, and we have some disagreement because of this phrase. May Allah reward you

A: Your saying to the newborn’s grandmother: “May Allah make her more blessed than her father” is a permissible supplication. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
