Responding to the greeting in a language other than Arabic
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The tenth question of the fatwa numbered ( 7484 )
Q 10: What is the ruling on responding to the greeting with words in Arabic to non-Arabs? For example: (Good morning) or (Good afternoon) in the English language , and what is the ruling on the one who offers this greeting to me, should I respond in the same language, or is it obligatory for the Muslim not to offer or respond with anything other than the greeting of Islam by which Allah has honored us?
A 15: If they are Muslims, respond to their greeting in their language, and initiate the greeting to them in their language if they do not know Arabic. As for if they know Arabic, the best for you and for them is to initiate the greeting in Arabic and respond to it in Arabic. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
