Using the Gregorian calendar in company work

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 16229 )
Q: My father: Your Eminence knows that there are commercial and daily work relationships with the world, and this rapid connection and interdependence requires
uniformity and compatibility in the daily work calendar for financial matters. In fact, our internal policy allows the use of either the Hijri lunar calendar or the Gregorian solar calendar for the financial year of each company. Moreover, most of the large financial institutions in our country now operate on the Gregorian calendar, and our relationship with those institutions prefers compatibility in the dates of daily accounts. We are currently working on the Hijri calendar, and we wish to know Your Eminence’s opinion on using the Gregorian calendar in company work , such that the company’s financial year becomes based on the Gregorian calendar. Is this action considered forbidden or lawful? I ask Your Eminence, my father, to let me hear your legal opinion on this, for Your Eminence is the imam of the sincere and truthful jurists with their Lord. May Allah increase you in piety and righteousness, and may Allah bless your life. The hands of Your Eminence spread goodness, excellence, and favor, after Allah, upon this Ummah, which testifies to your great stances in supporting Islam and Muslims.

A : It is obligatory to remain on the Hijri calendar, as Muslims have followed since the time of al-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him) to this day, and it is an honor for the Ummah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
