A Boy's Birthday

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question from Fatwa number ( 20834 )
Q 6: What is the ruling on celebrating a boy's birthday? It is said among us that it is better to fast on that day instead of celebrating. What is the correct view?
A: Celebrating a birthday or fasting for the sake of a birthday, all of that is a religious innovation (bid'ah) with no basis. The Muslim should only draw near to Allah by what He has made obligatory upon him and by voluntary acts of worship, and he should be in all his times grateful to Him and praising Him for the passing of days and years while he is in good health, safe in his person
and his wealth and his child. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
