Maintaining Family Ties if They Are Open Sinners

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 4450 )
Q 1: Whatis the ruling in Islam if the family members are open sinners, and there is a Muslim among them, should he boycott them and leave them? Even though he called them to the religion of Allah, and they were Muslims, but they refused, and he said: "O Allah, I have conveyed the message." His mother did not think he should boycott them, and he did not boycott them, but he is afraid of their fate.
A 1: If the situation is as you described, you must continue to advise them and guide them, fulfilling the right of Allah and the right of kinship and maintaining family ties. If they persist
in their sin, boycott them for the sake of Allah, except for the mother, with whom you should treat her kindly in this world. Do not obey her in leaving off the boycott of them, but follow the path of Allah and His Shari'ah in boycotting them, unless you know that staying with them mitigates their evil and boycotting them increases their evil and worsens their fate in their religion. In that case, stay with them as long as you are not led astray by the sins they commit; this is choosing the lesser of two harms and avoiding the greater. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
