Going to a Spiritual Healer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 12263 )
Q: A man was afflicted with his son, who was involved in a car accident that left him with memory loss and in a prolonged coma. His condition then improved slightly, and he began
to move his limbs, but he withheld speech and had no ability to remember or receive information. They tried every type of medicine with him, and it stopped at this point. However, it happened that there are those who treat such intractable diseases with what they call spiritual medicine , and this is practiced by both disbelievers and Muslims, and their treatment often succeeds, curing patients whose conditions were intractable. Is it permissible for me to resort to these people? I note that I do not know the reality of the means they use in their treatment.
A: It is not permissible to go to them or to be treated by them; until you know the means of treatment they employ and their safety from what contradicts the pure Shari'ah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
