Q2: And we also ask you, may Allah preserve you, about Ruqyah al-Shar'iyyah , and is it permissible to assign a specific number of recitations to certain verses for each of the conditions, or not, such as their saying, for example, that verse number so-and-so (2001) is recited, and the like?
A2 : Ruqyah al-Shar'iyyah is what is done with the Qur'an and the lawful supplications, and specifying the number of times a verse or supplication is recited requires evidence, and we do not know of any evidence in that except that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), when he supplicated with a supplication, would repeat it three times on some occasions. So it was narrated from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her):Mishkat al-Masabih 2132.

So it was narrated from 'A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her):
‘Ā’isha said that every night when the Prophet went to his bed he joined his hands and breathed into them, reciting into them, ‘Say, He is God, One’; ‘Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of the dawn’; and ‘Say, I seek refuge in the Lord of men.’ Then he would wipe as much of his body as he could with his hands, beginning with his head, his face and the front of his body, doing that three times.
