The Manner of the Prescribed Ruqyah

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Your Eminence! A questioner asks: What is the manner of performing ruqyah with supplication, O Your Eminence? And what are the supplications that are recited?

Answer:
One blows on the patient at the site of the illness, and supplicates for him. He blows on him with his saliva, recites Surat al-Fatihah, and repeats it seven times. He recites the Verse of the Throne, and recites whatever is easy from the Qur'an, and recites:
Say, "He is Allah, [who is] One,قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ
[Surat al-Ikhlas:1] and the two Mu'awwidhat, repeating them three times. This is the ruqyah, and he blows with it and supplicates to Allah,
Adhhibil-bas, Rabban-nas, washfi Antash-Shafi, la shifa’a illa shifa’uka shifa’an la yughadiru saqama (Take away the pain, O Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer, and there is no healing but Your healing that leaves no trace of sickness)اللهم أذهب الباس رب الناس، واشف أنت الشافي، لا شفاء إلا شفاؤك، شفاءً لا يغادر سقمًا
Sunan Ibn Majah 3520Sahih (Darussalam)
just as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did.
And he says:
In the name of Allah I exorcise you from everything and safeguard you from every evil that may harm you and from the eye of a jealous one. Allah would cure you and I invoke the name of Allah for you.باسم الله أرقيك من كل شيء يؤذيك، من شر كل نفس، أو عين حاسد، الله يشفيك باسم الله أرقيك
Sahih Muslim 2186
Thus Jibril (Gabriel) performed ruqyah for the Prophet (peace be upon him), as the Prophet (peace be upon him) informed us of this. So all of this is good.
And if he says: "O Allah, heal him," "O Allah, grant him well-being," "O Allah, make well-being easy for him," and appropriate supplications, there is nothing wrong with it. But this is the lawful supplication reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Adhhibil-bas, Rabban-nas, washfi Antash-Shafi, la shifa’a illa shifa’uka shifa’an la yughadiru saqama (Take away the pain, O Lord of mankind, and grant healing, for You are the Healer, and there is no healing but Your healing that leaves no trace of sickness)اللهم أذهب البأس رب الناس، واشف أنت الشافي، لا شفاء إلا شفاؤك، شفاءً لا يغادر سقمًا
Sunan Ibn Majah 3520Sahih (Darussalam)
,
In the name of Allah I exorcise you from everything and safeguard you from every evil that may harm you and from the eye of a jealous one. Allah would cure you and I invoke the name of Allah for you.باسم الله أرقيك من كل شيء يؤذيك، من شر كل نفس أو عين حاسد الله يشفيك، باسم الله أرقيك
Sahih Muslim 2186
. And if he performs ruqyah for the patient with other supplications seeking well-being, there is nothing wrong with it.

The presenter: May Allah preserve you.
