The first question of Fatwa No. ( 8431 )
Q1: What is the ruling on the slaughter of one who is likely to abandon prayer, even if out of laziness, such as when it is the prevailing state of a specific group, like slaughterers? And is it obligatory to verify this regarding the specific slaughterer?
A1 : The principle regarding Muslims is that their slaughtered meat is to be eaten, so one does not deviate from this except with certainty or a strong likelihood that the one who performed the slaughter has apostatized from Islam by committing what necessitates ruling him an apostate. This includes abandoning prayer by denying its obligation by consensus, or abandoning it intentionally out of laziness and indifference, which is the most correct of the scholars' opinions. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
