Eating the hedgehog

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and second questions from Fatwa No. ( 5092 )
Q1: We see that most citizens eat monitor lizard meat, and since the monitor lizard resembles the lizard and the iguana, and is considered part of their family, with no difference in creation and constitution, this is from one aspect. From another aspect, we have differed regarding its consumption: some said it is forbidden, some said it is lawful, some said it is disliked, and some said no specific text has come regarding it. Please issue a ruling for us: should we eat it or leave it, and what is the best course of action in this matter?
A 1:
Ibn Abbas
, that Khalid ibn al-Walid entered with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) upon Maymunah, and she served them roasted hedgehog, which had been brought from Najd. So Khalid said: Is the hedgehog forbidden, O Messenger of Allah? He said: No, but it was not in the land of my people, so I find myself repelled by it. I swallowed it and ate it while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was looking, and he did not forbid me.
