If one hosts a friend or a relative, should he ask him about the source of his earnings?

The second question of Fatwa No. ( 4278 )
Q2: I have learned something about the scrupulousness of the Imams regarding the issue of food; for example, Imam al-Shafi'i and Imam Ahmad , who refused to accept money from his son who worked as a judge, because he doubted the money his son would receive from the state. Since I learned this, I have refrained from eating any food other than what I eat in my home from my father's money, or what I know the source of. This has caused me some hardship, and many of my brothers have been angry with me for refusing to eat, even if it is just a date. Often guests come to our house carrying fruit or something else to eat, and I refuse to eat it. My refusal is not because I trust that its source is forbidden, but because I do not know the Islamic ruling. Is it prescribed in the Shari'ah that if I am invited to food, I should ask about the source of the money with which this food was brought
with this food
, and if you travel to a country where you have a relative or a friend, should I ask him about the source of this food that I eat at his place, and if the gift is food, should I ask about the source of the money he used to buy it?

A2: Asking about that is not from the way of Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), nor from the way of his Caliphs and his noble Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all). And because asking about that may lead to a rift, resentment, or severance of ties. We advise you not to be strict in such matters due to the hardship that arises from it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
