Nursing non-Muslims for Muslim women
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fifth question of the fatwa number ( 2922 )
Q 5: Most of the nurses in British hospitals are non-Muslim men, and they nurse Muslim women during childbirth. Is there any harm in that?
A 5: Yes, there is harm in that; in fact, it is forbidden; because it involves non-Muslim men, and especially non-Muslims, seeing the private parts of Muslim women during their childbirth, without any dire necessity to employ male nurses for women; since it is possible to use female nurses for female patients. It is not permissible for a Muslim woman to expose herself to that; rather, she should strive to be treated or give birth in a private hospital or clinic that preserves her religion, and she should not expose herself to what tarnishes her honor or violates her sanctity. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
