The second question of Fatwa number ( 3147 )
Q2: A man promised Allah that he would not do anything wrong, and the man held out for three months, then he broke the promise . What is the ruling in Islam regarding this, is there an expiation, and is there repentance?
A2: If the situation is as you described, that you promised Allah that you would not do anything wrong and then you did it—committing the wrong is a crime, and failing to keep your promise to your Lord is a second crime. So you must repent to Allah, seek His forgiveness, follow up bad deeds with good deeds, do good works, maintain the prayers in congregation, recite the Qur'an, give charity, and maintain family ties. May Allah accept your repentance and forgive you. Do not return to what you fell into, and there is no expiation required of you. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
