Causing the miscarriage of a fetus without intent

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 20781 )
Q: One day, I was six months pregnant. I went to get some dates, and I was upset. The dates were in a basin with a wall; I had to bend over the wall to get them. I pressed my belly against the wall to get the dates, and afterwards I felt cramps for a month, then the fetus came out dead. I know that I did not intend to harm this fetus in any way. This incident happened more than twenty years ago, and the father of the fetus is now deceased. I ask Allah, then you, to give me a ruling: is there anything required of me in this matter? May Allah preserve you.
A: If the situation is as you described and the soul had been breathed into the fetus, then you owe an expiation, which is: freeing a believing slave. If you cannot find one,
then you must fast for two consecutive months, sixty days; because by this action you caused the death of this fetus. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
