The second question of Fatwa No. ( 7924 )
Q 2: Is there any text forbidding smoking during the life of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?
A 2: No specific text by name has been transmitted regarding it, but it is among the impurities, so it falls under the general meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-A'raf 7:157] And it is harmful, so it falls under the hadith: Sunan Ibn Majah 2340Da'if (Darussalam) , and spending money on what is impure and harmful is forbidden; because it is squandering, so it falls under the general meaning of the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Isra 17:27] And it is a waste of money, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade the wasting of money. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
