Q: We are here in the Netherlands , young Muslims who hold fast to their religion—praise be to Allah—but the jobs available here are all in the business of intoxicants and restaurants that serve pork, alongside other meats. Is it permissible to work washing the utensils in which pork is prepared as a means of earning a livelihood ? Please advise us; may Allah reward you, and may Allah guide us and you, and may Allah reward you with good.
A : It is not permissible for you to work in establishments that sell intoxicants or serve them to drinkers, nor to work in restaurants that serve pork to eaters or sell it to those who buy it, even if other meats or foods are also present, whether your work involves selling or serving them, or washing their utensils. This is because it entails cooperation in sin and transgression, and Allah has forbidden this in His saying:[Al-Ma'idah 5:2] There is no dire necessity compelling you to do this, for the earth of Allah is vast, the lands of the Muslims are numerous, and the permissible jobs therein are also many. So be with the Muslim community in a country where permissible work is easily available. Allah the Exalted said: [At-Talaq 65:2-3]
And He the Exalted said:[At-Talaq 65:4] And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

وَلاَ تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِAnd whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out (3) And will provide for him from where he does not expect. And whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose. Allah has already set for everything a [decreed] extent.
وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا (2) وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَحْتَسِبُ وَمَنْ يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَالِغُ أَمْرِهِ قَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدْرًاAnd He the Exalted said:
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease.
وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ يُسْرًا
