A Doer of Good Prepares to Pay the Cost of Freeing a Slave

Q: I was involved in a collision, and a person died in the car I hit. I was the cause of the accident, after the decree of Allah the Exalted. I now wish to free a slave, as I am unable to fast, since I have a large family whom I support. There is a doer of good who has prepared to pay the cost of freeing the slave. Therefore, I hope for Allah’s sake, and then for your excellence’s sake, that you will issue a ruling to me regarding freeing a slave, and whether it is valid if a doer of good pays the amount for me or not?
A: If a doer of good pays the value of the slave that is obligatory for you, and then you purchase it and free it, that is permissible.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
