The second question of Fatwa No. ( 17492 )
Q2: Is there an expiation for the Christian, meaning, is it obligatory for a Muslim to pay an expiation if a Christian dies with him or if he causes his death?
A2: If a Christian granted safe conduct dies with a Muslim in a car accident, for example, the Muslim is obligated to pay the expiation for accidental killing; due to the generality of the statement of Allah the Exalted:[An-Nisa 4:92] .
And because he is a protected human being who was killed unjustly, he is similar to a Muslim in this regard. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

and if he was from a people with whom you have a treaty - then a compensation payment presented to his family and the freeing of a believing slave. And whoever does not find [one or cannot afford to buy one] - then [instead], a fast for two months consecutively, [seeking] acceptance of repentance from Allah. And Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
