Ruling on one who kills a Christian by mistake
A Muslim killed a Christian by mistake, knowing that this incident occurred in Kuwait. What is the ruling?
First, may Allah reward you. The term "Christian" is a recent expression. The Christians adopted it to attribute to their religion that it is a true religion, named after al-Masih, the son of Maryam. And the correct thing is to say: The Christians, as mentioned in the Noble Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and also in the words of the scholars. If you look at the books of the scholars, you will not find "Christians," only "Jews and Christians." But these people wanted to attribute to their methodology and their religion that it is a true religion. So they said: Christians,Therefore, we see that the correct expression is to say: The Christians, as Allah (Mighty and Majestic) named them.

As for the answer to the question you mentioned: If a Muslim kills a Jew or a Christian, he is not subject to retaliation for it.Meaning: A Muslim is not killed for a disbeliever, even if it was intentional. If it was by mistake, he must pay the expiation and he must pay the blood money.because of the saying of Allah the Exalted:
and if he was from a people with whom you have a treaty - then a compensation payment presented to his family and the freeing of a believing slaveوَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ قَوْمٍ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُمْ مِيثَاقٌ فَدِيَةٌ مُسَلَّمَةٌ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ وَتَحْرِيرُ رَقَبَةٍ مُؤْمِنَةٍ
[al-Nisa: 92] And you know that the blood money for a Jew or a Christian is half the blood money for a Muslim.
