She placed her child near the fire and he suffocated

Fatwa number ( 21083 )
Q1: Allah blessed me with a son at the beginning of my marriage. In the first week after his birth, I lit a fire with kerosene and removed the ash. A few hours after I did this, the boy’s color changed, and he remained in that state for a day and a half until he died. People have been repeating that I was the cause of his death, even though nothing from the fire touched him, but they claim that lighting a fire for a woman in postpartum bleeding is harmful, which is the belief of the common people among us.
A: 1 If the child died because of the kerosene smoke that you lit, provided that the child was in the same place where you lit the fire with kerosene, then you owe an expiation; because you were the cause of his death. The expiation is: freeing a believing slave, and whoever does not find one must fast two consecutive months. As for the belief of the common people among you that merely lighting a fire is harmful, this has no basis.
