Q: I am a citizen of this noble country, and I am 75 years old. I married when I was 25 years old, and I gave birth to a daughter immediately after my marriage. However, I covered her with my chest while breastfeeding her, and when I woke up from my sleep, I found that she had passed away . I am certain that I was the cause of her death without any intention, and I informed her father
of the truth. He went to one of the scholars of that time, that is, 45 years ago, and asked him about what happened. He told him: She must feed 60 poor people. However, after feeding these poor people, I was not convinced. So I ask Allah, then I ask you, may you please convince me: Is what I gave in charity sufficient, or are there rulings that I must perform? Please issue a ruling on what I must do, may Allah reward you with good. And may Allah preserve you.
A: If the matter is as you described, it is obligatory for you to pay the expiation for accidental killing. The expiation is: freeing a believing slave. If you do not find one, then fast for two consecutive months. As for expiating accidental killing by feeding people, it is not permissible.
