The child died of poisoning after drinking goat milk that I did not heat

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 15350 )
Q: Twenty years ago, I was blessed with a child. After two years, he was weaned. One night at four o’clock, he woke up crying from thirst and hunger. I had a goat prepared for my father, so I went to it, milked it, and heated the milk. When it was ready, a cat fell on it, and it spilled onto the ground. I went back and milked the goat again, but the child did not give me a chance to heat it; he took it from my hand and drank it.
He passed away after the afternoon prayer, and the hospital determined that he died of poisoning. It was revealed that the goat had been bitten by a snake. Is there anything on me for this? Do I owe an expiation? My father drank from that milk after boiling it and suffered only a minor ailment.

A: If the matter is as described in the question, the child’s mother owes no expiation, because she did not act negligently. This is divine decree and destiny, and praise be to Allah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
