Slaughtering an animal for a woman when she exits the waiting period
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa number ( 15910 )
Q1: It has become a custom among people that when a woman exits the waiting period, an animal is slaughtered for her, as an announcement of her exiting the waiting period. Whoever does not do so may be criticized and his character disparaged by his family. What is the ruling on this act? Does it have a basis in the Shari'ah? And what is your advice to those who do this?
A1: Slaughtering an animal for a woman when she exits the waiting period and believing that it is prescribed has no basis in the Shari'ah, and it is not permissible to do it; because he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 1718b And because Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) made the waiting period obligatory in the Noble Qur'an and did not command slaughtering after it. Rather, this is an invented matter that Allah did not command, nor did His Messenger. Therefore, it must be abandoned and forbidden. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.
