The fifth question of the fatwa number ( 21653 )
Q5: It is the custom among the people here that the widow of the deceased, after completing her waiting period (4 months and 10 days), recites al-Fatihah, then takes a bath, is this what the Shari'ah commands in such a case, or what is correct according to the Shari'ah?
A5: Reciting al-Fatihah after the waiting period ends and then taking a bath afterwards has no basis in the pure Shari'ah, so it must be abandoned in this case. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
