He told his wife that if she went to her family, she would be forbidden to him like his mother and sister, and then she went

Fatwa number ( 14608 )
Q: A disagreement arose between me and my wife regarding her going to her family, and I swore at her: (If you go to your family, you will be forbidden to me like my mother and sister) three times, and after a period, I needed some money and took her gold to sell it without her consent. When she learned that the gold had been sold, she asked me to come home or she would go to her father's house. I did not respond to her, and she then went to her family's house. What is the ruling of the religion in this matter? May Allah reward you with good.
A: If the matter is as you described, and you made zihar (likening one's wife to a forbidden relative) of your wife conditional on her going to her family's house, and then she went, then the ruling in that is zihar, and she is forbidden to you until you expiate the zihar. The expiation is freeing a believing slave. If you do not find one, then fast for two consecutive months. If you are unable to do that, then feed sixty poor people, giving each poor person half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg) of food, such as dates, wheat, rice, or the like of the staple food of the country
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
