Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second and third questions from Fatwa No. ( 2512 )
Q2: What is the ruling onproviding for my father’s housing and food? Since I am a student and have not yet started working?Q3: I have eighty pounds, which I spend on housing, clothing, and buying university textbooks. Should I also spend it on food and leave my father until Allah provides me with a way out?
A2, 3: If you are unable to pay and do not have money or earnings sufficient to house yourself, eat, drink, and clothe yourself, it is obligatory for your wealthy father to house you, clothe you, and feed you within his capacity, to the extent of your needs. If you have money or earnings sufficient for you, it is not obligatory for your father to maintain you; rather, your maintenance comes from your money or earnings for your housing, clothing, and food. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
