The husband's uncle

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 12998 )
Q: My father passed away when I was young, and I have younger brothers. My uncle married my mother, took care of us, and she bore him children. Now we have grown up and gotten married, and he is an old man with gray hair. Is it permissible
for our women to uncover themselves in his presence?
Knowing that we and his sons live in the same house.

A: It is not permissible for your wife or your brothers' wives to uncover themselves in the presence of your uncle (your mother's husband); because he is not one of their mahrams. As for your daughters and your brothers' daughters, it is permissible for them to uncover themselves in his presence; because he is one of their mahrams. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
