Shaking hands with the wife's sister
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: The first ruling from Fatwa No. ( 10662 )
Q1: Is it permissible for a husband to shake hands with his wife's married sister, or with his adult daughter-in-law, hand to hand, given that she is forbidden to him only temporarily? Is it also permissible for him to enter his uncle's (his wife's father's) house and sit with his wife's sister if no one else is in the house? It is known that he treats them exactly as he treats his own sisters.
A1: It is not permissible for a man to shake hands with his wife's sister; because he is allowed to marry her if his wife dies or if he divorces her, and it is not permissible for him to be alone with her. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
